Youth pro Musica is dedicated to introducing the joy of choral music to its members and the community of Greater Boston. Highlights of recent seasons include collaborations with the American Boychoir, Yo-Yo Mah at Harvard University, the Cross Borders Orchestra of Ireland at Symphony Hall, the Tufts University Choir and the Drakensberg Boys’ Choir of South Africa. Since the 1970’s, YpM has performed the moving song cycle by Charles Davidson, I Never Saw Another Butterly, based on poetry by children interned at Terezin concentration camp from 1942 to 1944. YpM singers and families were honored to meet with Holocaust survivor, author and parent of an alumna, Dr. Ingrid Kisliuk as well as survivor and lecturer from the Terezin Chamber Music Foundation, Edgar Krasa last spring. These valuable educational experiences as well as performances at Children’s Hospital, Newton Free Library, schools and nursing homes fulfill founder Roberta Humez’s vision of serving the community through music.

Maintaining a choral program of this quality requires significant funding. YpM celebrates its 40th performance season in 2009 – 2010. We are proud to offer many members some type of scholarship assistance. (No child is ever turned away because his or her family cannot afford the tuition.) We depend on individual donations pay for need-based singer scholarships, staff salaries, professional fees and basic needs such as rent, storage, printing and sheet music.

YpM is a 501(c)(3) (nonprofit) organization, so your donations are tax-deductible. Why not recognize a YpM alumn or other special person by making a donation in his or her honor? Whether you give $10 or $1000 , your gift ensures YpM’s continued success in bringing the highest level of choral training to the young people of Greater Boston.
