Auditions for the 2010-2011 Season are now being scheduled! YpM is beginning an exciting season of singing, performing, and traveling. In addition to performing in the Boston area, YpM will go on tour and visit Montreal at the end of the season. Would you like to be a part of it? Then audition for the chorus! Schedule an audition Auditions are by appointment with our Artistic Director, Robert Barney, and take approximately 15 minutes. Formal musical training is not a prerequisite for the younger singers, but some prior musical experience is necessary for admittance to the high school division. The various divisions of the chorus often perform together. All auditions and most rehearsals take place at the First Unitarian Society in Newton, located at 1326 Washington St., West Newton (directions). Auditions begin on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 and are available on other days during the month of September. Then come to one of our Open Rehearsals! Prospective members (accompanied by their parents) interested in the Repertory Chorus or the High School Chorale are invited to visit a rehearsal on the following days:
Rehearsals for the 2010 – 2011 season begin on September 14. The rehearsal schedule is as follows: Training Chorus – Tuesday, 4:00 – 5:00 pm Girls and boys grades 3 to 5. Young singers have a chance to develop their skills in a small, nurturing ensemble. *There are no scheduled Open Rehearsals for the Training Chorus. Parents interested in visiting a Training Chorus rehearsal, please contact us. Repertory Chorus – Tuesday, 6:00 – 7:30 pm: Girls grades 3 to 8, boys with unchanged voices grades 3 and up High School Chorale – Tuesday, 7:45 – 9:15 pm: Girls grades 9 to 12, boys with changed voices through grade 12 Note: Auditions will continue through the end of September. After this, auditions will resume in early January for the spring performance season. |
